Volunteer
Are you interested in becoming a volunteer with our support group? Call us at (416) 932-8820 if you interested in helping others doing one of the following:
Hospital clinics: speak to newly-diagnosed men, and men who have already had their treatment, before and after they see their doctors (at Princess Margaret Hospital, the Odette Cancer Center (Sunnybrook Campus), or Branson Hospital)
Hospital visitations: if you’ve had a radical prostatectomy (RP), visit other men who have just undergone the same surgery at Toronto General Hospital or Sunnybrook Hospital.
This year we will also begin hospital visitations at North York General Hospital and we’ll need additional volunteers who have had an RP.
Hot Line: become a resource to talk to men and their families about the prostate cancer journey. We maintain lists of experiences so that the most appropriate person can return calls.
Speaker’s Bureau: join our group of speaker’s who go out and talk to business groups, service clubs, and religious organizations about the importance of being screened for prostate cancer as well as the work of our support group.
For all of the above, some training is required, which we provide and/or arrange for with the hospitals.
Special events: we need people to help organize or simply help out on various events throughout the year.
Scotiabank Awareness Nights: we can always use more help to set up our refreshments for our break.
Do you have services which you can donate? We could use someone in the printing industry who would be interested in donating his printing services for our flyers and newsletters. We would advertise that “printing donated by . . . . .”
