Articles from the Internet are regularly gleaned from the website and posted. An attempt is made to categorize them, as listed in the sidebar on the right. We are considering options for on-line meetings for as early as the next meeting on April 21st.  Details will be posted here. Prostate Cancer Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society agree to amalgamate

Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) and the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) have agreed to amalgamate. See the announcement here. (https://www.prostatecancer.ca/In-The-News/Foundation-News-Releases/Prostate-Cancer-Canada-and-the-Canadian-Cancer-Soc) It is important to note that PCCN-Toronto will continue to provide support, as we have for over 26 years (before PCC was formed) to prostate cancer patients, their families, caregivers and friends. That means that Peer Support Meetings, Awareness Nights, hospital/clinic visits, phone/email support, etc. will carry on as before. At this time, it is not clear where our group will fit within CCS. Smoking Ups Bladder Cancer Risk, Lowers Prostate Cancer Risk

Men and women smokers are at increased risk of bladder cancer, and men who smoke are at increased risk of kidney cancer and decreased risk of prostate cancer (PCa), according to a retrospective study of 211,005 smokers and a matched group of non-smokers who visited 196 general practitioner’s offices in the United Kingdom.
